Back from Band Camp. Two weeks full of TONS of teaching, playing (musically and in the fun sense) and plenty of positive and negative stress to go around.

I miss it so. damn. much. The last day was so surreal... I didn't know how to feel.

For all the crap I sling at my little brother, I am very grateful to have him and his dorky friends in my life. If it weren't for them, I'd have no idea how to make middle schoolers think I'm the coolest person ever (or pretty darn close). My clarinet playing may not be the best, and I am most certainly growing as a teacher and not the best of the bunch, but hot damn, kids love me- and I love them. I don't really know how or why, but if anything, I always seem to have such a great rapport with almost all the kids at Band Camp. It makes me really, really happy.

I have 122 deviations to sift through. I didn't bother reading any of the other messages... being gone for two weeks leaves for way too much catching up in Internetsland. It was awesome being away from TV and the Internet for two weeks... I didn't miss either. That's how amazing band camp is.

I miss my campers.

I miss my counselor buddies even more.

I will make the damnedest effort to meet up with allathemfolks in Portland in a couple weeks. One thing Band Camp also did for me: it made me hate my job. I want to be a music teacher SO BAD I don't think I can wait another year despite my opportunity as the WWU MENC President. I just want to be done with school so I can start enriching the lives of the chillydrens with music fun times. >_<
